The social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, is rolling out an innovative feature named “Starterpacks” aimed at assisting new users in navigating the complex world of cryptocurrency and related interests. This feature is set to enhance user engagement by curating lists of influential accounts within various sectors, including Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Nikita Bier, the product lead at X and advisor for the Solana ecosystem, shared insights about Starterpacks in a video released on January 22. He indicated that this tool is designed to help new users identify the most relevant accounts, regardless of their size, that align with their interests. The feature is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
Starterpacks will encompass a wide range of essential topics, including not only cryptocurrencies but also areas like news, politics, fashion, technology, business, and finance. Bier highlighted that the feature will include unique subcategories such as memecoin trading, economics experts, software developers, and eccentric personalities, thereby offering a tailored experience for each user.
According to Bier, the platform has meticulously compiled top accounts from various industries and nations, based on traffic performance over recent months. This effort aims to ensure that new users can easily discover the best accounts in their areas of interest. Bier stated, “Over the last few months, we scoured the world for the top posters in every niche & country. We”ve compiled them into a new tool called Starterpacks: to help new users find the best accounts—big or small—for their interests.”
In the cryptocurrency sector, notable figures included in these curated lists are Shibetoshi Nakamoto, CZ, Brian Armstrong, Vitalik Buterin, Justin Sun, among others. Bier also mentioned that the feature will initially offer over 1,000 pre-made packs of accounts to follow within each interest category, with plans to expand this to 3,000 in the upcoming months.
Two days prior to the Starterpacks launch, Bier reflected on a conversation with an X product manager, who emphasized that the real value of X manifests when users explore beyond the mainstream timeline that is often filled with news and political discourse. Instead, they should engage with specialized interest communities that align more closely with their personal preferences. “However, X is an interest-based graph—you can”t simply “sync your contacts” and immediately get a relevant feed,” Bier added. He concluded by stating that ongoing improvements over the last six months have made it increasingly easier for new accounts to discover content that resonates with their interests.
