In a significant humanitarian effort, Bitget has partnered with the World Bank-supported The Ascent Project and local cryptocurrency enthusiasts to provide relief to communities devastated by the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu. This initiative comes in the wake of the disaster that struck on September 30, 2025, affecting countless residents.
On November 2, 2025, a total of 118 individuals from Bogo City and San Remigio received essential relief supplies, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Bitget and its local partners. The operation was executed on the ground by The Ascent Project, with logistical support from Bitget”s trading community. The firm contributed ₱100,000 to fund this vital initiative.
Local volunteers were instrumental in the distribution process, working closely with government officials to pinpoint the families most severely impacted by the quake. Many of these families are still grappling with the aftermath, lacking access to electricity and clean water since the disaster occurred.
Beyond immediate relief efforts, Bitget has expressed its commitment to ongoing support for rebuilding initiatives in northern Cebu. The organization is exploring various avenues to assist affected communities in their recovery efforts.
In addition to this relief operation, Bitget has been active in the Philippines through other initiatives. Earlier this year, the firm deployed two Starlink devices as part of its PayFi Islands program, which aims to enhance blockchain literacy and financial education among students and women-led cooperatives in island communities.
Moreover, Bitget”s support for educational resources has been evident with the launch of the “Barya to Blockchain: Young Learners” Encyclopedia.” This project, which has gained traction since its debut in August 2025, has already seen over 4,000 copies claimed on the CoinGecko Candy platform, as reported by author and Filipino crypto content creator Cryptita Plays.
As the situation in Cebu continues to evolve, Bitget remains a key player in not only the cryptocurrency space but also in community support and education, reinforcing the potential of blockchain technology to foster positive change.
