In a significant law enforcement operation, police in Montenegro have thwarted a planned criminal act by detaining four individuals suspected of being involved in organized crime. Among those apprehended was a member of a high-risk organized crime group from the northern region of the country.
The operation, conducted by officers from the Sector for the Fight Against Crime in collaboration with the Regional Security Center, targeted individuals believed to be executing criminal activities. During the heightened surveillance in Podgorica, authorities discovered fake police uniforms, including two jackets marked with “POLICIJA,” and other items intended for overcoming physical barriers.
Additionally, another suspect, associated with a separate organized crime group from Cetinje, was stopped while driving a vehicle with Berane registration plates. Both vehicles involved in the operation were seized for further legal verification.
Police also gathered information from another individual linked to a high-risk organized crime group. Searches of the residences used by the detained suspects revealed electronic devices, including a mobile phone equipped with cryptocurrency protection, and a vehicle suspected of having a manipulated chassis number.
It is believed that the suspects had been employing counter-surveillance measures to obscure their movements and avoid police detection, frequently utilizing multiple rented vehicles during the day.
Thanks to the proactive efforts of the police, a potential crime was averted, and ongoing investigations will determine the specific target of the planned attack. The public will be informed of any significant developments regarding this case.
According to police records, the individuals involved have histories of severe criminal offenses, including acts against life and body, violent crimes, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, and crimes related to property and economic criminality.
