The ongoing battle for the fourth position in the cryptocurrency market is heating up as XRP seeks to potentially surpass Binance Coin (BNB). Despite appearing stable on the surface, XRP”s market dynamics reveal significant underlying challenges.
Currently, XRP is trapped within a corrective channel, consistently missing key moving averages that are critical for its recovery. Although it recently rebounded from local lows, resistance from the 50-100 EMA cluster has stalled this upward movement. This inability to gain momentum is particularly concerning, as XRP needs sustained upward pressure to seriously threaten BNB”s market capitalization.
From a price action perspective, XRP still has not confirmed a reversal and remains in the process of attempting to recover. The market is consolidating slightly above short-term support, yet recent attempts to break higher have failed. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently hovering in neutral territory, signaling a lack of decisive movement—XRP is not experiencing aggressive buying or selling.
Without an external catalyst, such behavior typically does not lead to a sudden change in market ranking. XRP finds itself in a paradoxical situation: while the number of transactions on its network indicates active usage, the volume of payments is inconsistent and often significantly lower. This divergence suggests that many transactions are more utility-driven or internal rather than large-scale value transfers.
Furthermore, institutional exposure via exchange-traded funds (ETFs) adds another layer of complexity. Although inflows are seen and tend to be consistent, they have not translated into immediate price dominance. Much of this exposure is structured passively and does not necessarily focus on achieving short-term gains.
Is it feasible for XRP to surpass Binance Coin in terms of market capitalization? Currently, that seems unlikely. For XRP to achieve such a milestone, it would require a substantial reassessment from institutional investors or a clear uptick in high-value on-chain transfers, alongside a robust technical breakout.
