Bitnomial, Inc., a regulated derivatives exchange in the United States, has made a significant move by launching the first-ever Tezos (XTZ) futures contracts priced in US dollars. This development went live on February 4 through Bitnomial Exchange, LLC, marking a milestone for the availability of Tezos futures on a US platform.
The futures contracts are priced at $0.5114 and can be utilized by both institutional and retail traders, allowing them to use either digital assets or US dollars as margin. This offering is expected to enhance trading capabilities and price discovery for Tezos.
Michael Dunn, President of Bitnomial Exchange, LLC, emphasized the importance of establishing a regulated US futures market for Tezos, which aligns with the cryptocurrency”s robust infrastructure. He stated that this setup enables traders to access genuine market prices and manage their digital asset holdings within a unified margin system.
Furthermore, Dunn noted that having a market regulated by the CFTC with a trading history could fulfill essential requirements set by the SEC for future spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) listings.
Arthur Breitman, co-founder of Tezos, remarked on the significance of US-regulated futures, stating that they serve as the foundation for commodity markets. He highlighted that their introduction for Tezos reflects the growing maturity of the platform and facilitates effective price discovery and risk management, thereby encouraging greater institutional engagement.
The newly launched futures contract joins Bitnomial”s growing portfolio known as the Crypto Complex, which offers a diverse range of digital asset derivatives in the United States. In related news, 21Shares has recently unveiled a new exchange-traded product (ETP) in Europe that merges exposure to Solana (SOL) priced at $91.37 with integrated staking rewards.
As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, the introduction of Tezos futures contracts could pave the way for more sophisticated trading strategies and increased participation from both institutional and retail investors.
