In a significant move for the cryptocurrency market, Binance has revealed plans to delist four tokens from its futures platform on January 21. The tokens affected are CreatorBid (BID), DeLorean (DMC), Zircuit (ZRC), and Tanssi (TANSSI). This decision highlights a critical moment for projects associated with artificial intelligence (AI), electric vehicles (EVs), and appchains.
The delisting will see Binance execute final settlements on the perpetual contracts BIDUSDT, DMCUSDT, ZRCUSDT, and TANSSIUSDT starting at 9 a.m. UTC. New positions will be prohibited beginning 30 minutes prior to the closure, urging traders to either exit their positions or face potential liquidation.
The market”s reaction has been swift and severe. CreatorBid, which aimed to create a decentralized economy for AI agents, has seen its value decrease to $0.022 after experiencing a 12.5% drop over the past month. The recent spike in trading volume, totaling $1.53 million, is indicative of panic selling rather than renewed interest.
DeLorean has faced an even harsher fate, dropping to approximately $0.0011 as interest in its vision of tokenized electric vehicles and driving analytics waned. Despite a brief surge in visibility, the lack of sustained buyer interest has led to its current downfall.
Meanwhile, Tanssi initially staged a 30% surge before it too faded into obscurity following the announcement. Zircuit showed little reaction, perhaps signifying a muted response from the market.
Binance”s rationale for this drastic action cites extreme volatility, diminished liquidity, and the absence of insurance fund support for these tokens. Traders who maintain open positions risk being subject to auto-deleveraging, a process that can further exacerbate losses.
Despite the promising narratives surrounding these projects—such as AI sequencers and sovereign appchains—their removal from Binance Futures underscores the harsh realities of the cryptocurrency landscape. This delisting serves as a stark reminder that even the most innovative concepts can falter without solid market support.
