Chainlink has officially launched onchain price feeds for Ondo Finance“s tokenized U.S. equities on the Ethereum blockchain. This integration includes price feeds for assets like SPYon, QQQon, and TSLAon, which will now function as collateral in decentralized finance (DeFi) lending platforms such as Euler.
The newly implemented feeds offer precise, real-time pricing while accounting for corporate actions, such as dividends. This enhancement not only boosts the accuracy of lending and liquidation processes but also significantly broadens the utility of tokenized stocks within DeFi ecosystems.
Previously, tokenized equities primarily allowed for price exposure but were limited in their role as collateral. By establishing a connection between exchange-traded prices and decentralized oracles, Ondo enables DeFi protocols to effectively determine and monitor collateral factors and liquidation thresholds. Currently, the launch focuses on SPYon, QQQon, and TSLAon, with plans to incorporate additional tokenized stocks and ETFs as user adoption grows.
The integration is further supported by Sentora, which oversees the risk parameters in these emerging lending markets. Developers now have the opportunity to utilize these price feeds to create innovative financial products, including synthetic derivatives and automated yield strategies directly linked to tokenized equities.
This launch aligns with a growing trend in both traditional and cryptocurrency markets, where tokenized securities are gaining traction. Prominent exchanges like Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are exploring blockchain-based platforms for trading tokenized stocks and ETFs. On the cryptocurrency front, over 60 tokenized U.S. stocks are already available on platforms like Kraken and Bybit, while Robinhood has begun testing tokenized assets on its Ethereum-based layer-2 network.
By providing secure and accurate price feeds, Chainlink reinforces the foundation for tokenized equities to be utilized in lending, trading, and structured financial products. As more stocks and ETFs enter the DeFi space, tokenized U.S. equities could emerge as a mainstream choice for investors seeking versatile onchain exposure to traditional markets.
