The Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Group, known as Vinacomin, has revealed its impressive contributions to the Vietnamese State budget, amounting to 4.44 trillion VND, which is approximately 169.5 million USD, over the first two months of this year.
In February alone, Vinacomin contributed 1.78 trillion VND, about 67.96 million USD, thanks to favorable weather and effective operational management across its coal and mineral mining activities. The company reported that its run-of-mine coal output for the month reached 2.38 million tonnes, surpassing its monthly target by 6.4% and bringing the total output for January and February to around 6.01 million tonnes.
Additionally, clean coal production in February also reached 2.42 million tonnes, maintaining the same cumulative figure of approximately 6.01 million tonnes for the first two months. Coal sales for February were estimated at 3.24 million tonnes, raising the total for the two-month period to 6.98 million tonnes.
In the minerals sector, alumina production hit 114,000 tonnes, achieving 105.6% of its planned output, while the cumulative production for the two months stood at 236,300 tonnes. Alumina sales were recorded at 82,900 tonnes in February, with a total of 165,100 tonnes for the two-month period. Bauxite ore mining contributed 690,000 tonnes in February, leading to a cumulative figure of 1.56 million tonnes.
Vinacomin”s copper concentrate production reached 9,200 tonnes in February, reflecting a substantial year-on-year increase of 113.1%, while sales improved by 115% to total 3,000 tonnes. Refined copper output for the month was recorded at 2,640 tonnes, contributing to a total of 5,360 tonnes over the first two months, with sales reaching 7,200 tonnes.
On the energy front, power generation in February amounted to 775 million kWh, pushing the two-month total to 1.63 billion kWh. The group”s consolidated revenue for February was estimated at 11.83 trillion VND, bringing the cumulative revenue for January and February to 25.48 trillion VND.
Looking ahead, Vinacomin remains focused on its production and business plan for 2026, implementing strategies aimed at enhancing production capacity and operational efficiency. The company aims to produce 3.4 million tonnes of run-of-mine coal and 3.5 million tonnes of clean coal in March, with sales targets of 4.53 million tonnes. Additionally, it expects to produce 120,000 tonnes of alumina and 11,200 tonnes of copper concentrate, along with sales of 137,000 tonnes of alumina and 1,100 tonnes of refined zinc. The consolidated revenue for March is projected to reach 15.4 trillion VND.
