In a striking turn of events, the number of millionaire addresses holding Bitcoin (BTC) has sharply declined in 2025, according to the latest data from Finbold. The report reveals a loss of 7,485 millionaire wallets, bringing the total down to 148,084 by December 31, 2025. This decline occurred even as interest in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted billions in inflows throughout the year, indicating a paradox in the market.
The figures show that the number of addresses with at least $10 million in Bitcoin actually increased from 15,319 to 16,368 during the same period. This suggests a growing concentration of wealth among the largest holders, while mid-tier millionaire wallets have thinned out significantly. The net loss of millionaire addresses translates to an average of approximately 21 disappearing each day throughout 2025.
It is important to note that a single individual can control multiple Bitcoin addresses, meaning that the total wallet count may not reflect the number of unique individuals involved. However, this trend serves as an indicative measure of shifts in on-chain wealth distribution.
As the year progressed, Bitcoin saw a net addition of 20,688 millionaire addresses by the end of the third quarter, spurred by positive price momentum earlier in the year. Nevertheless, the final quarter witnessed a reversal that obliterated earlier gains, ultimately pushing the yearly total into negative territory.
The contraction of millionaire addresses aligns with the broader market dynamics, as Bitcoin began 2025 trading near recent highs but ended lower, reflecting a price decline despite sustained demand within regulated investment vehicles. In contrast, 2024 had seen a significant surge of 56,325 new millionaire addresses, averaging an addition of 154 per day.
Overall, the 2025 data indicates a notable shift in the distribution of wealth on the Bitcoin blockchain, highlighting the increasing dominance of larger holders while smaller millionaire wallets exited the market.
