The first Friday of February was intended to be a celebratory occasion for the Pi Network, but it quickly turned sour. Although the project has been around for over seven years, its native token launched less than a year ago, leading to mixed reactions regarding its evolution and updates.
The Core Team aimed to recognize the contributions of moderators in the community, celebrating their volunteer efforts through a social media post. This annual event, known as Moderator Appreciation Day, is intended to acknowledge those who support the Pi Network by managing discussions, answering questions, and testing new features. However, the post triggered a wave of criticism from users, who felt that the focus on appreciation was misplaced given the ongoing issues within the network.
While many users supported the recognition of moderators, frustration bubbled to the surface regarding the perceived stagnation in the project”s development. Comments from users like Joann&Joe urged the Core Team to expedite their progress, expressing disappointment over what they described as superficial acknowledgments amidst ongoing challenges. Another user, Chialo20, voiced his dissatisfaction with the lengthy wait for the migration of Pi coins, stating, “7 years plus now not to migrate my Pi coins, just migration stage, and this is not fair.”
Additionally, A. A. Gada highlighted that numerous pioneers remain in a state of “tentative approval” for their Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, calling for improvements in this area. The Core Team recently announced that they had made significant strides by unblocking millions of users for mainnet migration, pledging that new changes would be implemented soon.
As the community grapples with these challenges, the tension between recognizing volunteer efforts and addressing the pressing needs of users continues to grow. Many within the Pi Network community are eager for tangible results rather than celebrations, reflecting a broader sentiment that action speaks louder than words in the fast-paced world of cryptocurrency.
